Description
The National Gallery of Victoria is perhaps the least known of the larger collections. Situated on a continent still thought to be remote from Europe and America, it has yet to become a staging point on one of the international tracks trodden by the museum staffs and critics.
At the same time, the collection the quality which can be judged from the illustrations and Dr Ursula Hoff’s description in this book, were not were not derived from one royal, aristocratic or private source, but have been built up over more than a century.
